2021 flooring trends

Lightwood and gray floors,  wood-look surfaces, textures, waterproof flooring, and marble surfaces are hot this year, and that's expected to last for years. As for colors, it's all about the natural look right now; you'll still see some bold and vibrant shades, but today's color palettes are mainly neutral. When you want to update your home, consider some new flooring.

Hardwood trends

This year, grained hardwood will be all the rage, as will wider planks. These bold textures are ultra-realistic and boost the status of your home.   Wide planks, which have a warmer, more traditional look, tend to be a favorite of designers for large rooms, but they can make a smaller room look cramped.  If the room is small or if your style is airier and more contemporary, you may prefer a narrower plank or even create a mixed width plank pattern.

Wood looks and waterproof

We put these together because wood look floors, such as luxury vinyl (LVF), waterproof vinyl, wood-look tile, and a waterproof version of laminate, always seem to go together. While LVF is waterproof from top to bottom, the laminate is spill-proof with no absorption, peeling, or rippling.  Wood-look tile, with its raised grains and color variations, combines waterproof durability with aesthetics.

Waterproof vinyl has taken the flooring industry by storm.  It is a newer, more advanced version of luxury vinyl that's thicker with more durable material. It has an advanced core, the WPC (wood plastic composite) or SPC (stone plastic composite). The cores will not peel or ripple no matter how much water the floor exposed to or for how long,

Other trends include even wider color palettes and pattern collections for carpets.  Technology has also created rugs with digital patterning, extra durability, and even some permanent stain resistance built right into the yarn.  When you walk into our flooring store in Port Jefferson Station, NY, you’ll be amazed at what you see.
